This project was done as a part of Left Bank scheme and the main intent of it was to bring the larger scale of a city into the site that was designed in advance. The main concept of this proposal for New Portland Maritime Museum was shaped around a simple idea: Connecting this building to the existing Oregon Maritime Museum which is basically an old steam sternwheeler that is redesigned to function as a museum.

The landscape design of the plaza adjacent to the museum frames the viewpoints to the river and the old museum by making use of the gradual grade change while keeping the new museum as a background for all of the potential functions in the plaza.

The facade features large pieces of steel that are recycled from old ships and they will be reminiscent of Portland maritime history.
